LIGHT! GESTURE! COLOR! An Evening with World Famous Photographer - Jay Maisel

**The Event is selling out fast! Please be sure to REGISTER NOW to reserve your seat!**

Just when you think you see COLOR, you are overwhelmed by COMPOSITION and then you're taken up with MOMENT.  Maybe that is the best way that describes how one interacts with a Jay Maisel photograph when you see it for the first time.

From his cover of Miles Davis' best selling jazz album of all time "Kind of Blue" to his iconic images of the New York skyline to his decades of award winning commercial work, Jay Maisel is the master (and teacher) of natural light color photography in a way that has defined the medium for years.  The roster of photographers he has inspired and mentored reads like a who's who list of remarkable imagemakers including Seth Resnick, Rick Sammons, Gregory Heisler, John Paul Caponegro and the list goes on.

ASMP Oregon in conjunction with Epson and ProPhoto Supply is proud to present a unique opportunity listen to Jaytalk about his work, his inspirations and his process in a presentation entitled "Light, Color, Gesture".  This is two hour journey with the man some people have called "...the touchstone against which the most accomplished photographers in the world measure their color photography." There will be a Q and A afterward where audience members can get the kind of answers from Jay only his amazing perspective on photography can generate.

After studying painting and graphic design at Cooper Union and Yale, Jay Maisel began his career in photography in 1954. While his portfolio includes the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Miles Davis, he is perhaps best known for capturing the light, color, and gesture found in every day life. This unique vision kept him busy for over 40 years shooting annual reports, magazine covers, jazz albums, advertising and more for an array of clients worldwide. Some of his commercial accomplishments include five Sports Illustrated swimsuit covers, the first two covers of New York Magazine, the cover of Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" (the best-selling jazz album of all time), twelve years of advertising with United Technologies, and a litany of awards from such organizations as ICP, ASMP, ADC, PPA, and Cooper Union.
